The heavily anticipated Verizon iPhone press conference has left a number of expectant consumers and industry personal disappointed as the heavily rumoured 4G LTE network capable iPhone 4 fails to materialise.
Taking to the stage in New York, Verizon CEO Lowell Macadam further enhanced our 4G iPhone expectations as he opened the press conference with the tantalising quip: "Okay, it looks like you're expecting a big announcement. I don't think we'll disappoint. If the press write something long enough, eventually it comes true. We're very very excited about our announcement today."
Despite the lack of 4G capabilities, Verizon did however reveal that it is to stock the current Apple iPhone 4 model, first launched back in July, with the iOS touting blower to be available to existing customers over the company’s CDMA network from February 3rd. New customers will be able to snap up the Verizon-bound iPhone a week later on February 10th.
Speaking at the Verizon unveiling, Apple’s Chief Operating Officer and Jobs’ right-hand-man Tim Cook announced: "Tens of millions of customers have purchased the iPhone around the world. Customers have downloaded billions of apps. I am incredibly happy, and I can tell you all of Apple, is very very excited to bring the iPhone to Verizon's customers."
When asked why Apple and Verizon had failed to utilise the company’s emerging 4G LTE network, Verizon’s Dan Dee said: “We have a tremendous 3G network -- we want to be sure we can take advantage of that.”
